It’s been just over 45 years since we first saw Henry Winkler in the role that would turn him into a superstar and a pop culture icon: Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli on Happy Days. Although he received a couple of Emmy Award nominations for the role, he didn’t actually win one until just last year, for his work on the HBO comedy Barry, which was recently renewed for a third season. Winkler has acknowledged on many occasions that he has Happy Days and its legendary producer, the late Garry Marshall, to thank for any success he’s had since then. In addition to the popularity, he told us he also got something much more valuable from Marshall: the discipline needed to succeed. (Click on the media bar below to hear Henry Winkler)
Barry airs Sunday nights on HBO.
