Taraji P. Henson has gotten plenty of experience playing an outspoken, larger-than-life character in her role on Empire. But Cookie is a fictional character; in her role as Ann Atwater in The Best of Enemies, Henson is playing a real-life civil rights activist. The film tells the story of how Atwater squared off against a KKK leader over school desegregation in 1971 North Carolina. Henson put a lot of time and effort into researching the role, and she told us she was truly impressed with the woman. (Click on the media bar below to hear Taraji P. Henson)
