Five Feet Apart centers on Stella Grant (Haley Lu Richardson), a 17-year-old who spends a majority of her time in a hospital fighting cystic fibrosis. Self-controlled and determined to live for her family and friends, Stella learns to break down a few boundaries after meeting a freewheeling patient named Will (Cole Sprouse).
Richardson, whose credits include the acclaimed films Support the Girls and Columbus, had nothing but praise for Sprouse, who’s best known for his work on Riverdale. “He’s just a very truthful, thoughtful person,” said Richardson. “He’s definitely bringing that to the role. It’s a very heavy role. These characters are in such a heightened time in their lives. There are so many things going on in the span of the movie. It’s been hard work for us, but it’s been great working with him.”
Richardson’s fiancee Brett Dier actually worked with Five Feet Apart director Justin Baldoni on Jane The Virgin. Click on the media bar to hear the actress discuss what made Baldoni a first rate filmmaker.
Five Feet Apart opens nationwide March 15.
