Twenty years ago, a TV show premiered that was set 20 years in the past, yet still managed to be ahead of its time. Freaks and Geeks seemed to have everything going for it — an incredibly talented young cast and a team of writers and producers (led by Judd Apatow) who would soon change Hollywood. Yet the show had trouble finding its audience, and even though it’s always gotten critical acclaim (along with plenty of love from those who watch it), Freaks and Geeks was canceled after its first and only season. As the show hits its 20-year milestone, though, everyone involved is able to look back with pride, including Jason Segel, who recently rewatched the series and says it was pretty much perfect. Unfortunately, Freaks and Geeks isn’t streaming online at the moment, but at least the DVD set Jason Segel mentioned is still available.
