Thanks to such films as Henry V, Hamlet, and Much Ado About Nothing, Kenneth Branagh is known for successfully bringing William Shakespeare’s works into the silver screen. Now he takes it one step further by actually playing the bard in All Is True. Judi Dench, who worked with Branagh last year in Murder on the Orient Express, co-stars as Shakespeare’s wife Anne Hathaway.
Set in 1613, Shakespeare returns to Stratford after the renowned Globe Theatre burns down, and he now spends his final days in seeming respite with his family. Years of neglect has understandably caused a rift between him and his loved ones, and Shakespeare must make amends as well as find the inspiration to write once more.
