Ken Jeong starred in one of this year’s most successful films with Crazy Rich Asians, and Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is also primed for hit status (Goosebumps made over $150 million worldwide).
Jeong reunited with The Duff filmmaker Ari Sandel for the film. “He’s one of the few directors that always brings out the likable sides of me,” said Jeong at the film’s premiere on the Sony Pictures Studio lot. “The characters I play when I work with Ari tend to be more likable and more kind of similar to how I am as a parent. In The Duff, I played the main character’s favorite teacher which is really a departure for me. In this movie, I’m a little bit weirder than I was in The Duff . . . but he’s so sweet. He’s a big fan of the Goosebumps books. It’s very meta.”
