Thanks to the films Straight Outta Compton, Mudbound, and the Showtime series The Chi, Jason Mitchell is one of today’s most intriguing actors. In Tyrel, Mitchell plays a dude (his name’s actually Tyler, but someone mistakenly calls him Tyrel) who spends a weekend with relative strangers in the Catskills. Tyler is the only non-white guy of the bunch, and with excessive drinking and obnoxious behavior all around him, this seemingly innocuous getaway turns into a nightmare.
The ensemble is bolstered by talented young actors Caleb Landry Jones (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri), Christopher Abbott (Sweet Virginia), and Michael Cera (Arrested Development). Sebastián Silva, who directed Cera in Crystal Fairy & The Magical Cactus and Magic Magic, is the man behind the camera. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!
Tyrel hits theaters December 5 via Magnolia Pictures.
