One of Rachel Weisz’s most eccentric and cinematically ambitious projects was 2015’s The Lobster, and now she’s back with director Yorgos Lanthimos with The Favourite. Though The Killing of a Sacred Deer was acclaimed, Lanthimos may finally reach crossover appeal with The Favourite.

Olivia Colman plays the frail Queen Anne, whose close friend Lady Sarah (Weisz) governs the country and tends to Anne’s multi-faceted needs. A new servant named Abigail (Emma Stone) threatens their bond, and with Sarah tending to politics Abigail, who has aristocratic roots, becomes Queen Anne’s new companion. As the trailer suggests, there will be a healthy share of gamesmanship and altercations, and watching Weisz and Stone go toe-to-toe should be a treat. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think of this 18th century set tale!

The Favourite hits select U.S. theaters in November 23 (it opens worldwide January 2019).
