Based on a true story, Operation Finale centers on Mossad agent Peter Malkin’s (Oscar Isaac) attempts to track down and kidnap former Nazi officer Adolf Eichmann (Ben Kingsley). The picture is filmmaker Chris Weitz’s first feature directing effort since 2011’s A Better Life.

“I think first and foremost we’re trying to make a good movie,” said Isaac. “We’re trying to make a movie that will be entertaining but will also be emotionally engaging, that will share in a very detailed way and incredible history that happened. There’s some incredible insight into what justice is and how to deal with the enemy and what separates that Nazi/fascist philosophy versus the humanist one – the one that is based on empathy.”

Operation Finale, co-starring Mélanie Laurent and Nick Kroll, opens nationwide August 29.
