Down A Dark Hall centers on Kit Gordy (AnnaSophia Robb), a troubled girl who is sent off to Blackwood Boarding School. Kit and four other girls find themselves under the supervision of eccentric headmistress Madame Duret (Uma Thurman), and eventually they discover that their environment may have its share of (excuse the cinematic pun) paranormal activity.
During production of the film Robb was able to learn a thing or two about an instrument which previously eluded her grasp. “One of the big draws for doing this movie, truth be told, was learning how to play piano,” said Robb. “Which I don’t technically know. I’m going to continue though. I practiced a lot and I had two fantastic piano instructors. I love the instrument now. I had a piano in my dressing and I’d be listening to the music, doing fingering exercises, and learning the keys. It was a lot of fun.”
