Executive produced by director Martin Scorsese, A Ciambra hits Blu-ray and DVD July 10 via IFC Films. The narrative centers on Pio (Pio Amato), a 14-year-old who decides to explore the family business after his dad and brother are arrested. Directed by Mediterranea filmmaker Jonas Carpignano, the feature was honored at the Cannes Film Festival with the Europa Cinemas Label Award. It was also Italy’s official entry for the 2018 Academy Awards (Carpagnino also received an Independent Spirit Award nod for Best Director).

Along with its critical acclaim, another reason to check out A Ciambra is the director’s passion for shooting on film in an overwhelmingly dominant digital age (it was shot on Super 16mm). Special features on both versions include deleted scenes and the documentary A Ciambra: The Other Side of the Story.
