The original Star Wars movie was a breathtaking piece of filmmaking in its day. In 1977, CGI animation was still in its infancy and virtually nonexistent, so all of the special effects in Star Wars were done the old-fashioned way. Now, CGI technology is commonplace, and most of the newer Star Wars movies rely heavily upon computer graphics. Ron Howard, however, bucked that trend while making Solo: A Star Wars Story, and the film’s star, Alden Ehrenreich, is amazed by how cool the old-style effects look.
Solo: A Star Wars Story, is playing now in theaters everywhere.
