Shailene Woodley and Sam Claflin star in the true story Adrift, a project based on Tami Oldham’s memoir Red Sky in Mourning: A True Story of Love, Loss and Survival at Sea. Engaged couple Oldham and Richard Sharp set sail from Tahiti to San Diego, only to encounter a hurricane weeks into their travels.
“As soon as I read the script I knew there was no way that I could not do this film,” said Woodley. “There was no way I could let the opportunity to portray this character and to express the love that these two people shared in a way that was so uniquely formatted and written. The way that they had written the script was so different compared to how most films are formulated. It was sort of a dream come true in every sense of the way.”
