The Cohen Film Collection is focuses on spotlighting and preserving some of cinema’s most seminal works (they did wonderful work with Alfred Hitchcock’s Jamaica Inn), and on May 29 they are releasing The Two of Us on Blu-ray and DVD.

Director Claude Berri is primarily known stateside for his resonant epics Jean de Florette and Manon of the Spring, and The Two of Us marks Berri’s directing debut. Centering on an 8-year-old Jewish boy (Alain Cohen) who forms a bond with an anti-Semitic elderly man (Michel Simon), the picture was inspired by Berri’s upbringing in wartime France. Berri was also an accomplished producer, with Milos Forman’s Valmont and Jean-Jacques Annaud’s The Lover among his credits.

The feature is presented with a new 4K restoration, and both versions come with an audio commentary with film critic Wade Major, and the 2017 rerelease trailer.
