Greaser's Palace

Greaser’s Palace, considered one of director Robert Downey Sr.’s finest works, makes its Blu-ray and DVD debut June 4 via Music Box Films Home Entertainment. The picture, a surreal parable on the life of Christ, centers on a drifter named Jessy (Allan Arbus) whose dreams of singing and dancing are realized when he discovers a saloon called The Palace. Robert Downey Jr., who in past interviews has praised his father’s work, is also featured in the flick (he’s billed as “small boy in covered” wagon”).

The film was remastered with a high-definition transfer and extensive color correction was applied to the original negatives. Special features on the Blu-ray and DVD include liner notes from late filmmaker Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs) and an interview with Downey Sr. conducted by Rudy Wurlitzer (screenwriter of the classics Two Lane Blacktop and Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid).
