If Solo: A Star Wars Story is going to work, the bond between Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) and Chewbacca has to pop off the screen. A brief teaser trailer released by Lucasfilm shows us glimpses of the pair’s initial meeting, and it’s also funny to see Chewie skeptical over Han’s card game playing skills.
Speaking of skepticism, there was initial doubts by critics and Star Wars enthusiasts if Ehrenreich could pull off the iconic role, but the trailers that have been released show off an actor who feels completely comfortable in the role. It’s impossible to follow in Harrison Ford’s footsteps, but considering Ehrenreich was excellent in Warren Beatty’s 2016 feature Rules Don’t Apply, it’s apparent he has the chops to carry his own film. Though Phil Lord and Chris Miller left the project over “creative differences,” having Ron Howard as the director is another plus for Solo: A Star Wars Story’s prospects.
