Anything

John Carroll Lynch, an acclaimed character actor who received raves last year for his feature directing debut with Lucky, stars in Anything as Earl, a 55-year-old widower who moves from Mississippi to Los Angeles. Initially living with his sister (Maura Tierney) in Brentwood, Earl isn’t too comfortable living one of the toniest sections of the city. Thus, he moves to an apartment in Hollywood where he bonds with Frida (Matt Bomer), his transgender next door neighbor who earns a living as a prostitute.

On the surface, this pair seems absolutely mismatched, but kindred spirits really don’t have to share everything in common. Executive produced by Mark Ruffalo, Anything marks the feature directing debut of Timothy McNeil (who adapts the story from his 2007 play). Bomer and Lynch look absolutely believable in the trailer, and hopefully this film gets it share of attention when it hits select theaters next month. Anything opens in New York May 11 and hits Los Angeles theaters the following week.
