Oscar winner Brie Larson (Room) continues to expand her creative horizons by not taking the safe and secure route of headlining studio driven projects. Basmati Blues centers on Dr. Linda Watt (Larson), a sheltered scientist who travels to India on a work trip. During her stay she discovers that her company’s plans may harm the livelihood of the local farmers, so she and the villagers band together to stop this destructive agenda. Rajit (Utkarsh Ambudkar), a spirited college student who has instant chemistry with Linda, also helps her along the journey. Scott Bakula and Donald Sutherland co-star in the feature.

The flick contains original songs penned by Pearl Jam, Dave Baerwald, Sonu Nigam, and Sugarland’s Kristian Bush. A love letter to Bollywood cinema, the flick opens in theaters and is available on VOD February 9. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think!
