Alex Pettyfer was pegged as a star to watch several years back with his lead performance in I Am Number Four. Starring roles in Beastly, Magic Mike, and Endless Love followed, but it’s his work in The Strange Ones which may command the most attention (at least critically).

The movie, which centers on two travelers (Pettyfer, Cop Car’s James Freedson-Jackson) who travel through the rural landscapes of America, is an expansion of that co-directors Lauren Wolkstein and Christopher Radcliff in 2011. The trailer promises a nail biting thriller that carries a strong visual sense from the filmmakers, and at just 82 minutes this flick probably is as tight as they come story wise. Freedson-Jackson received a Special Jury Recognition for Breakthrough Performance at this year’s SXSW Festival for his The Strange Ones.
