Writer Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express spawned a popular 1974 feature and now director/actor Kenneth Branagh has assembled an A-list cast for the latest cinematic iteration.

Co-star Johnny Depp, who plays a tough talking mobster named Ratchett, praised Branagh’s ability as a filmmaker. “He allows people to be and I think that’s one of the best things is that he allows people to do their job to the best of their ability” said Depp. “And that does everything in terms of having a set that’s conducive to creative sparring, searching, wrenching out something absurd to get a certain reaction of someone. So basically what I’m saying is you have the opportunity to try anything.”

The movie also reunites Depp with his Chocolat co-star Judi Dench. Click on the media bar to hear the actor give his thoughts on the venerated actress:

Murder on the Orient Express, co-starring Daisy Ridley and Branagh as Hercule Poirot, opens nationwide Friday, November 3.
