Chadwick Boseman’s career went on an immediate upswing thanks to his convincing work as both Jackie Robinson (42) and James Brown (Get On Up). With Black Panther Boseman takes on the role of one of Marvel’s most beloved superheroes as T’Challa (Boseman) is a man who places his people before his own comfort.
Directed by Creed’s Ryan Coogler, Black Panther centers on T’Challa’s return to the advanced nation of Wakanda after his father (who’s Wakanda’s King) passes. Faced with foes all around him, T’Challa must claim his rightful throne but, more importantly, save Wakanda from heading down a dire path. The film co-stars Martin Freeman and Coogler collaborator Michael B. Jordan (along with Creed, they also paired up for Fruitvale Station). Check out the trailer, which features a mesh of Gil Scott-Heron’s spoken word piece “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” and the hip hop track “Bagbak,” and tell us what you think!
Black Panther opens February 16, 2018.
