One of The Night Shift’s trademarks as a medical drama is weaving military driven stories into its narrative fabric. For the episode “Keep The Faith,” each person that was brought in is either currently working in the military or a veteran.
“It was a lot of fun to be able to pay tribute to that and to be able to bring all those people on board and hear their stories and have them be a part of something that was special where we wanted to, in our own small way, say thank you,” said Brendan Fehr who plays Dr. Drew Alister in the series.
Actor Josh Kelly, a former Army Ranger, guest stars in the episode as a decorated military vet turned politician who has a past connection with Drew (Fehr). “This episode was the only episode I’ve been in (wherein) I saw how hard they work on making things right,” added Kelly. “Even the dialogue is very carefully, meticulously looked at and it’s right. It’s Army. It’s military. I was really impressed.”
