Girls Trip centers on four close friends (Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, Tiffany Haddish, Queen Latifah) who reunite in New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. Hall previously worked with Girls Trip director Malcolm D. Lee in The Best Man and The Best Man Holiday.
Though the movie is a rowdy comedy, Latifah could relate to one of the aspects of the film, as she and Pinkett Smith rarely get quality time with one another.
“I didn’t realize how much I missed her,” said Latifah. “Spending this much time around each other was a lot of fun. We have busy lives and our lives have surely taken us, since we did Set It Off, in a lot of different directions. It’s nice to be able to do something where we get to hang (out together).”
