Marc Webb, who directed this year’s Gifted, is behind the camera once again with The Only Living Boy In New York, and this one may reach the creative heights of his best work 500 Days of Summer.
Callum Turner, best known for his work in the first rate thriller Green Room plays a college grad named Thomas who’s trying to woo his friend (Kiersey Clemons) with a bit of help from a wizened neighbor (Jeff Bridges). His mission gets thrown for a loop after he discovers his dad (Pierce Brosnan) is having an affair with a younger woman (Kate Beckinsale). While attempting to stop this affair from continuing, Thomas further complicates the matter. Cynthia Nixon co-stars as Thomas’ mom who wisely says that “the only way out is through.”
The picture’s moniker comes from the excellent Simon & Garfunkel tune. Check out the trailer below and tell us what you think.
The Only Living Boy In New York opens nationwide August 11.
