Steve Zahn has tackled many genres during his career, and as evidenced from losing a ton of weight in Werner Herzog’s Rescue Dawn, he’s also up for the physical rigors of a movie production. In War for the Planet of the Apes Zahn plays a solitary ape who’s discovered by Caesar (Andy Serkis) and helps his new family lead a war against a military camp led by ruthless military colonel (Woody Harrelson).
“It’s really a story of Caesar’s journey and the war he’s having with who he is,” says Zahn who starred last year with Viggo Mortensen in Captain Fantastic. “It’s a pretty simple story and that’s what makes these interesting and that’s why they live forever is because they are simple. They’re about those kinds of things.”
