Directed by Sabaah Folayan and Damon Davis, Whose Streets? gives a viewer a bird’s eye view on the Ferguson uprising. The shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown, whose lifeless body was left on the street for hours, spurred activists and leaders to call for justice. Whether it’s spotlighting the racial tensions that were brought to the forefront after Brown’s death or delving into the community members and citizens who were inspired to unite for a common cause, Whose Streets? is a documentary which should receive its share of attention come awards season.

The Ferguson uprising and Brown’s death are topics that have its share of wide ranging opinions, and it will be interesting to see the amount of attention, controversy, and dialogue that’s sparked when this film comes out (the picture screened earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival). Whose Streets? will be released nationwide August 11th via Magnolia Pictures.
