After successful runs on TV’s Friday Night Lights and Grey’s Anatomy, Teaneck, New Jersey native Gaius Charles is back with NBC’s Taken. Playing John, a special operation teams member who works in tandem with Bryan Mills (Clive Standen), Charles has seen his share of action sequences. That being said, John’s arc, like many of the characters on Taken, is fully fleshed out, as viewers get to immerse themselves into a world outside of Mills‘ world view and personal obsessions.
Speaking of viewpoints, Taken thankfully doesn’t have a partisan approach to its storytelling. “What’s unifying about our show is we deal with these very intense and sometimes challenging and even controversial topics,” said Charles, who started on his acting path back in seventh grade. “It’s about the characters and their relationships so no matter where you fall on the political spectrum, I think you’ll be able to plug in and enjoy our show.”
