Katherine Heigl headlines Unforgettable as Tessa Connover, a woman who’s still processing her divorce from her ex-husband David (Geoff Stults). When Mike gets engaged to Julia Banks (Rosario Dawson), Tessa is filled with jealousy, and the thought that Julia will have quality time with her daughter Lily (Isabella Kai Rice) isn’t easy to stomach. Although jealousy is part of the human condition, Tessa takes that emotion into dangerous heights.
“I always sort of start on whether or not I can emotionally understand the character,” said Heigl. “If she was too of just a bad guy – I have to have some sympathy and compassion for her . . . Tessa (is) heartbroken. She is so incredibly terrified of being alone. She has decided what makes her valuable is this man and whether he loves her. That’s a terrible position to put yourself in, especially when that man has moved on. I could first get into (the role) by feeling compassion for her.”
