Miles Teller put his body to the test by playing Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza in Bleed for This. During a celebrated career in which Pazienza (he has since changed his last name to Paz) defeated Roberto Duran twice and won 50 fights, the pugilist also sustained a broken neck which would have put most fighters into an early retirement. As Bleed for This shows, the boxer went in an entirely different direction.
“I was very excited to play a boxer,” said Teller. “I didn’t know I would get that opportunity at that point (at age 27) or whenever it was. But yeah, I wanted to play boxer. I want to play a soldier. I like blue collar guys. Those are guys I can relate to so I was very nervous about it but at the same time you get to play a guy like Vinny who was always covered in blood and broke his nose in every fight. He was the biggest warrior and had more heart than anybody.”
