Though Blaine Mitchell initially started as a member of Blake Shelton’s team on The Voice, his music has flourished under the tutelage of coach Adam Levine. An alternative rocker at heart, Mitchell performed “Old Time Rock and Roll” during the Battle Rounds, with Shelton picking Blind Joe and Levine wisely stealing Mitchell in the process.
During the Knockouts, Mitchell’s true colors shined with a rousing rendition of the James Bay tune “Hold Back The River,” and he advanced over season frontrunners Andi & Alex.
“Give me an alternative rock song and give me what I love to do, and I’ll let you feel the emotion of a song,” said Mitchell. “Because that’s what I love to do – and that’s what a live show is all about.”
With the Live Playoffs right around the corner, Mitchell is peaking at the right moment, and his straight ahead rock aesthetic should continue to standout during the competition.
During our interview with Mitchell, he talked to us about the support he receives from his Fort Worth hometown, preparing for the Live Playoffs (“the fire’s burning”), and his recent marriage (he got hitched last week!). Mitchell also had a funny observation about Los Angeles drivers, an assessment which is completely accurate.
