‘Aloft’ With Jennifer Connelly Hits Blu-Ray In September

aloft1

Aloft, a drama headlined by Jennifer Connelly (Noah) and Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Batman Begins), hits Blu-ray and DVD September 29 via Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Directed by Peruvian filmmaker Claudia Llosa, best known for her critically acclaimed feature The Milk of Sorrow, Aloft centers on a renowned healer (Connelly) who is dealing with a tragic incident that continues to haunt her and her son Ivan (Murphy), an eccentric falconer who harbors an understandable grudge towards his mom.

Mélanie Laurent (Beginners) stars as a journalist who initially approaches Ivan claiming an interest in documenting his profession, but her primary focus has nothing to do with falcons.

Aloft, nominated last year for the Golden Bear award at the Berlin International Film Festival, also screened earlier this year at the Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals.

Check out the video below as Nick Cannon talks about the energy and responsibility that’s involved with AGT’s live shows.

Chiwetel Ejiofor Mines “Epic” Landscape With ‘Z For Zachariah’

Z For ZachariahOpening August 28, Z For Zachariah centers on a young woman (Margot Robbie) who may actually be the last woman on earth, and though she lives in a post-apocalyptic world, her surrounding environment is filled with rich and fertile land. When she saves a paranoid scientist (Chiwetel Ejiofor) from radiation poisoning after he goes skinny dipping in toxic waters, the pair gradually develop an imperative friendship that centers on their mutual need for survival. When a third stranger (Chris Pine) enters the picture, their bond is immediately threatened.

“It has an epic quality to its psychological landscape,” says Ejiofor. “But it’s played out in a sort of small way and I loved that. I really think it deals with those sort of first principles. Normalizing relations between men and women, the ideas of government and systems of justice. Things that would have to creep back into any kind of conversation.”

Click on the media bar below to hear Chiwetel Ejiofor elaborate on the “psychological landscape” behind Z For Zachariah.
