Seven years after starring in the big screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for best actor, Depp returns to another Sondheim musical starring along with Meryl Streep and Chris Pine, among others, in Into the Woods opening in theaters Christmas Day.
Depp is still one of the most in demand actors working in films today. When Depp was offered the role by not only director Rob Marshall (who he previously worked with on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) but also by iconic American composer Stephen Sondheim, he was humbled and honored for the role as The Wolf.
The FOX hit series Bones will be entering it’s eleventh season when it return to FOX in the fall which makes the show one of longest running series on television.
One of the biggest reasons thatBones is a huge success is the chemistry between its stars, Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz, which is among the best in recent television history. When the two first saw each other while auditioning for the show, they knew immediately that they were meant to be.
Airing tonight on FX, episode ten of this seventh (and final) season of the hugely successful SONS OF ANARCHY really pushes the boundaries of the ‘sex and violence’ envelope. And, without spilling any specific ‘spoilers’, it’s beginning to look like nobody will be left standing at the end of the season. Arguably one of the most compelling series on television today, SONS OF ANARCHY was created by KURT SUTTER and features a cast that includes CHARLIE HUNNAM, KATY SEGAL, KIM COATES,TOMMY FLANAGAN and THEO ROSSI.
We had the chance to sit down with THEO ROSSI at the Television Critics Association press tour and he talked about the success of the show, the contribution of SUTTER and the series’ enormous fan base.
Making its debut next Monday on NBC, STATE OF AFFAIRS is a political drama set in the White House and centered on a female President (ALFRE WOODARD) and her most trusted adviser, a complicated CIA analyst (KATHERINE HEIGL) charged with scoping out and thwarting national security threats.
Another in what seems to be a rash of ‘bold heroine’ series, STATE OF AFFAIRS marks a return to prime-time television for HEIGL, who took a few years off to try her hand at making movies for the big-screen. For WOODARD, it’s business as usual. A Golden Globe winner, the actress has been Emmy-nominated 17 times and won twice. Between TV series’ and movies, she keeps active with big-screen and stage work.
We recently sat down with ALFRE WOODARD, who filled us in on what she finds exciting about STATE OF AFFAIRS.
