gotham_ver45Opening this Friday on Halloween, is the original Saw film, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary since it was first released. The franchise spun off six sequels in total, but it was the first Saw film that horror movie audiences seemed to like the most.

Nobody could have predicted Saw’s box office success, including its star, Cary Elwes, who recalls that not even the cast or filmmakers could have predicted the huge impact the film made. (Click on the media bar below to hear Cary Elwes)

‘Gotham’ Star Robin Lord Taylor Pays His Respect To ‘The Penguin’

gotham_ver44Actor ROBIN LORD TAYLOR is impressing both fans and critics with his portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot on the new hit FOX series GOTHAM. As one of the many proto-villains in this jam-packed origin story, Cobblepot will eventually go on to become Batman arch-nemesis The Penguin.
A relatively unknown actor, TAYLOR has actually guest starred on such highly acclaimed series as THE GOOD WIFE, LAW & ORDER: SVU, PERSON OF INTEREST and THE WALKING DEAD. In addition to that, he and pal BILLY EICHNER co-created and co-starred in CREATION NATION: A LIVE TALK SHOW which they performed at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

A certified scene stealer, TAYLOR is a stand-out as the much put-upon Cobblepot and he’s well aware of the responsibility that goes along with portraying one of the DC Universe’s most notorious bad guys. We recently sat down with him to talk about the new series and he admitted his good fortune as well as playing to the fans.

GOTHAM airs tonight on FOX.

Martin Short Provides A Bright Spot On FOX Sitcom ‘Mulaney’

_rbdave73dj1_hires218Returning next Sunday (it’s been bumped tonight for the World Series) to FOX, stumbling sitcom MULANEY continues to put on a brave front as it struggles with the ratings. Recently cut back from its original order of 16 episodes to 13, production has ostensibly stopped and it’s been reported that already one cast member, FORTUNE FEIMSTER, has moved on to a series on ABC. Inspired by the daily life experiences of former Saturday Night Live writer-turned-stand up comic JOHN MULANEY, the show just isn’t catching on with viewers despite a cast that includes MARTIN SHORT, ELLIOTT GOULD, NASIM PEDRAD, ZACK PEARLMAN and SEATON SMITH.

We recently sat down with iconic comic actor MARTIN SHORT who talked about his comedic roots and admitted that doing classic stand-up isn’t really in his comfort zone.

MULANEY returns next Sunday night on FOX.

Ben Affleck Is No Stranger To The Tabloid Media Issues In ‘Gone Girl’

_rbdave73dj1_hires217Currently in theaters and holding its own on the box-office charts after three weeks of release, GONE GIRL is author GILLIAN FLYNN’s own big screen adaptation of her best-selling novel of the same name and tells the story of the investigation into the mysterious disappearance and possible murder of a seemingly happily married young woman. Directed by DAVID FINCHER, the film stars BEN AFFLECK, ROSAMUND PIKE, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS and TYLER PERRY.

More than just a simple mystery, GONE GIRL manages to be a topical observance (and occasional indictment) of modern marriage, morals, social media and tabloid journalism. As the husband who is at first romanticized and then vilified by the tabloid press, BEN AFFLECK seems to be treading on slightly familiar soil. During the recent press tour to promote the film, AFFLECK noted that the swipes taken at tabloid media in GONE GIRL did not go unnoticed by him.

GONE GIRL is in theaters now.

‘Constantine’ Proves To Be A Rare Cynical Superhero With No Superpowers

_rbdave73dj1_hires216Based on the popular DC Comic Book character introduced in THE SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING (1984) and promoted to lead in the HELLBLAZER series (1988), CONSTANTINE debuts tonight on NBC and centers on a street-wise ‘supernatural advisor’ with a keen sense of cynical snark, an ability to use his wits to thwart evil and a commitment to defending humanity against the dark forces from beyond.

While considered by many to be a ‘superhero’, CONSTANTINE is a rarity in that he doesn’t wear a traditional costume or possess any ‘superpowers.’

But rather than try to describe him ourselves we figured we’d deliver it straight from the sorcerer’s mouth. We recently sat down with Welsh actor and series star MATT RYAN who gave us his take on his character of CONSTANTINE.

CONSTANTINE debuts tonight on NBC.
