202b99_chocolate-milk_sc15_0009_f_hires2Currently playing on HBO, MR. DYNAMITE: THE RISE OF JAMES BROWN is a feature length documentary chronicling the life and career of the man who rightfully became known as ‘the hardest working man in show business.’ Produced by MICK JAGGER, directed by ALEX GIBNEY and blessed with the rare co-operation of the Brown estate, the film features rare archival interviews with BROWN himself, extensive historical footage and modern day footage with such colleagues as JAGGER, REV. AL SHARPTON, CHUCK D., ALAN LEEDS and DANNY RAY (to name just a scant few).

From his first hit (Please, Please, Please) to his breakout performances at Harlem’s Apollo Theater, his extensive civil rights activism and his notorious endorsement of RICHARD NIXON, the film is a genuine treasure trove of entertaining information.

A labor of love for producer MICK JAGGER (who also produced this year’s theatrical biopic GET ON UP), MR. DYNAMITE is a tribute to one of his favorite performers. We sat down with JAGGER a few months ago and he talked about how he was influenced by JAMES BROWN.

MR. DYNAMITE: THE RISE OF JAMES BROWN is currently airing on HBO.
