Currently in theaters and holding its own on the box-office charts after three weeks of release, GONE GIRL is author GILLIAN FLYNN’s own big screen adaptation of her best-selling novel of the same name and tells the story of the investigation into the mysterious disappearance and possible murder of a seemingly happily married young woman. Directed by DAVID FINCHER, the film stars BEN AFFLECK, ROSAMUND PIKE, NEIL PATRICK HARRIS and TYLER PERRY.
More than just a simple mystery, GONE GIRL manages to be a topical observance (and occasional indictment) of modern marriage, morals, social media and tabloid journalism. As the husband who is at first romanticized and then vilified by the tabloid press, BEN AFFLECK seems to be treading on slightly familiar soil. During the recent press tour to promote the film, AFFLECK noted that the swipes taken at tabloid media in GONE GIRL did not go unnoticed by him.
GONE GIRL is in theaters now.
