Harry Potter Star Daniel Radcliffe Walks A Very Dark Path In ‘Horns’

mc_0570_1_hires2Arriving in theaters today (and available via VOD), HORNS is a weird, darkly comic supernatural love story centered on a young man determined to find the killer of his girlfriend. Falsely accused of the murder, he mysteriously grows a set of gnarled horns that apparently compel the people around him to confess their deepest darkest secrets. Directed by ALEXANDRE AJA and based on the novel by JOE HILL (author STEPHEN KING’S son), the cast includes DANIEL RADCLIFFE, JUNO TEMPLE, MAX MINGHELLA and JAMES REMAR.

A bizarre mixture of tension, gore and tongue-in-cheek humor, HORNS is most definitely not aimed at the HARRY POTTER demographic and may even be too over-the-top for older folks as well. That said, it’s almost always fun to see the choices RADCLIFFE makes as he moves away from the blockbuster franchise that took up over a decade of his life. At a recent press conference to promote HORNS, RADCLIFFE explained what attracted him to this odd script. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)

HORNS opens in theaters and is available today via VOD.

The Hardest Working Man In Show Business Comes Alive In ‘Mr. Dynamite’

202b99_chocolate-milk_sc15_0009_f_hires2Currently playing on HBO, MR. DYNAMITE: THE RISE OF JAMES BROWN is a feature length documentary chronicling the life and career of the man who rightfully became known as ‘the hardest working man in show business.’ Produced by MICK JAGGER, directed by ALEX GIBNEY and blessed with the rare co-operation of the Brown estate, the film features rare archival interviews with BROWN himself, extensive historical footage and modern day footage with such colleagues as JAGGER, REV. AL SHARPTON, CHUCK D., ALAN LEEDS and DANNY RAY (to name just a scant few).

From his first hit (Please, Please, Please) to his breakout performances at Harlem’s Apollo Theater, his extensive civil rights activism and his notorious endorsement of RICHARD NIXON, the film is a genuine treasure trove of entertaining information.

A labor of love for producer MICK JAGGER (who also produced this year’s theatrical biopic GET ON UP), MR. DYNAMITE is a tribute to one of his favorite performers. We sat down with JAGGER a few months ago and he talked about how he was influenced by JAMES BROWN.

MR. DYNAMITE: THE RISE OF JAMES BROWN is currently airing on HBO.
