For ‘American Idol XIV,’ The Judges Aim Remains The Same

011662With Season 13 officially in the books, American Idol is already looking ahead to next season, with the first auditions taking place in Minneapolis just four short weeks from now. With Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. reportedly on board already, and Jennifer Lopez looking likely to return as well, it could be the first time since 2007 that the Idol judging panel remains the same. As far as Urban is concerned, that’s a great thing, because he enjoys not only the chemistry, but also the diversity within the trio. (Click on the media bar to hear Keith Urban)
When the auditions start next month, Harry Connick, Jr. told us the judges’ goal will be exactly the same as it was this year. (Click on the media bar below to hear Harry Connick, Jr.)

American Idol will return to FOX for its 14th season early next year.

Angelina Jolie Won’t Push Kids Into The Family Business

13Angelina Jolie, who has spent a good deal of her Oscar-winning career making movies that weren’t family friendly, is finally starring in a movie she can bring her six children to, Walt Disney’s Maleficent. Jolie, of course, grew up seeing her father – fellow Academy Award winner Jon Voight – on the big screen, which played a big part in her career choice. So what will Jolie think if her kids decide to follow mom (and, of course, their famous father Brad Pitt) into show business? Jolie told us it’s strictly the kids’ decision – but if they do seek a career in Hollywood, she hopes they’ll set their sights on more than just the fame aspect of it. Jena Irene “Can’t Wait” For “American Idol” Performance With Paramore

American Idol (FOX, CR: Michael Becker)

Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson faced off last night on American Idol at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, and for Irene it was pretty much the experience of a lifetime.

“To just perform in front of an audience of that many people and in an amazing venue is so different than what we’re used to each week,” said Irene. “So I was definitely a little bit nervous but I was excited more than anything. My adrenaline was going just the whole time.”

For judge Harry Connick Jr., the matchup reminded him of one of boxing’s greatest rivalries. “It really is kind of like Ali and Frazier. Caleb really (packs) a powerhouse punch and Jena is really more of like a boxer (laughs). It really seems like that.”

This season’s American Idol champ will be crowned tonight (FOX, 8 pm et/pt), and one of the many anticipated moments will be Irene’s collaboration with Paramore. Click on the media bar below to hear Irene talk about getting the chance to perform with the popular band:
