Amanda Seyfried plays late porn star Linda Lovelace in the biopic Lovelace, and although the ingenue has experimented with a slew of genres, this is the first time she’s actually portrayed a real person.
One of Seyfried’s prerequisites in taking the part was to shed away any kind of preconceived notions about Lovelace, who is best known as the lead actress from one of porn’s most popular titles, Deep Throat.
“I’m a pretty cynical person, so I knew right off the bat when I entered this project that I was going to have to leave that out the door,” said Seyfried. “Because I’m embodying her. My job is to validate her in lots of ways.”
Although most of the film is set in Florida, the picture’s 25 day shoot took place all over the east side of Los Angeles, including downtown L.A., the Alex Theatre in Glendale, and the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena. Producers chose the city of Angels to take advantage of California’s state tax incentive.

Lovelace, co-starring Peter Sarsgaard as Chuck Traynor, comes out On Demand and in select theaters August 9th.
