Directed by James Marsh, the man behind the acclaimed documentaries Man on Wire and Project Nim, the thriller Shadow Dancer centers on Collette McVeigh (Andrea Riseborough), a single mother who is caught by an MI5 officer (Clive Owen) after orchestrating a failed IRA bomb operation in London. For her actions, she is forced to spy for MI5 or go to prison in the process.
“With Collette, we were representing a time that was very tumultuous so it was really important to us with everything we served it with a certain amount of authenticity,” said Riseborough, who was recently seen opposite Tom Cruise in Oblivion. “Or just everything was as authentic as we could possibly make it moment to moment. “

Shadow Dancer is now playing in New York and Los Angeles theaters. Cinephiles who don’t live in those cities can catch the movie on VOD.
