Diane Kruger, whose film credits include Inglourious Basterds and Unknown, plays The Seeker, an alien searching for the remaining traces of humanity in The Host. Although The Seeker is from a peaceful race, their possession of human bodies is definitely a hostile takeover. With a young woman named Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) caught in a battle of wills with the alien who’s trying to take over her soul, The Seeker is on a mission to ensure Melanie loses her battle. Based on Stephenie Meyer’s best selling novel, The Host should be a hit when it opens in theaters March 29th.
For Kruger, taking part in The Host was a no-brainer thanks to the talent involved. “I’m a Twilight fan,” said Kruger. “But I love Andrew Niccol. Gattaca is one of my favorite films of all time and I thought (The Seeker) was really interesting. I didn’t read the book before they sent me the script…I thought it was really well written. I didn’t see that coming at all and I thought it would be something different and I wanted to be part of the cool kids club. I really enjoyed and I thought it was different and fun.”
In the clip below, Diane Kruger talks about her “magical” trip to Patagonia with companion Joshua Jackson (Fringe).
