Side Effects Director Steven Soderbergh’s unpredictable feature Side Effects (R, 107 minutes), a movie which is a blend of a medical drama and a Hitchcockian thriller, heads to Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on May 21st. The movie will initially be available on Digital Download on May 7th.

The story centers on Emily (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s Rooney Mara), an emotionally unstable woman who is adjusting to life with her just released from prison husband (Channing Tatum). After Emily is prescribed an experimental drug from a psychiatrist (Jude Law), her violent and erratic behavior leads to dire consequences for her spouse and psychiatrist.

Special features on the Blu-ray and DVD include:

*Aliza Website Experience

* Behind the scenes of Side Effects

*Ablixa Commercial (the fictional drug featured in the film)

* Intenin Commercial

Although it will be interesting to see the drug commercials as well as the featurette, an audio commentary from Soderbergh and writer Scott Z. Burns (he also penned the Soderbergh movies The Informant and Contagion) would have been welcome.  Hopefully the featurette will be a meaty one.
