ARGO (Warner Bros. Pictures, Keith Bernstein)At yesterday’s Oscar nominees luncheon, Argo filmmaker Ben Affleck was asked, for probably the umpteenth time, about not receiving a Best Director nod.  When asked if he thought the Director nominations should be opened up like the film category (there are nine movies nominated for Best Film), Affleck gave a gracious and even handed answer (his “Oscar-ologists” term drew laughs from reporters)  “I leave all those sorts of calculations to the folks in the press and the pundits and the Oscar-ologists or whatever it is,” said Affleck.  “To me, I just feel so incredibly honored to be nominated as a producer for this movie.  To be here at the big party. It’s tremendous.  We got seven nominations, including Best Picture.  I’m elated by that (and) truly, genuinely thrilled.”

Affleck also was asked to name some of the directors he’d love to work with, and he proceeded to give praise to his fellow film nominees (Argo is one of the nine nominees for Best Film).  To hear Ben Affleck at the Oscar Luncheon, click on the media bar below:
