Although January and February are usually months reserved for films that, for lack of a better word, suck, director Steven Soderbergh’s latest film Side Effects delivers the goods as a first rate thriller. The story of a mentally ill woman (Rooney Mara) who murders her just released from jail/insider trading hubby (Channing Tatum), Side Effects is a feature filled with twists. Just when you think the picture is focused on the woman’s journey, the feature takes an entirely unexpected turn. Jude Law gives a first rate performance as the psychiatrist who finds his life directly affected by this tragedy.
During last weekend’s press conference for Side Effects, Mara and Law talked about what made the movie a unique working experience, as they both talked about the intelligence of the material. To hear the actors talk about Side Effects, click on the media bar below:
Side Effects, co-starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, opens February 8th.
