Nintendo of America (Photo Credit: Todd Williamson) Twenty years of covering press junkets and reviewing films has never led me to an annual trek to the Sundance Film Festival, but this year there are two huge reasons I feel a bit envious. One is the premiere of Before Midnight, the third installment of the evocative Before Sunrise trilogy (is there a more evocative on-screen couple than Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy?)

Nintendo’s presence at the Sundance Film Festival is also a huge plus. Today they opened up the Nintendo Lounge, which offers festival goers and Park City residents a chance to play Wii U and Nintendo 3DS titles.  The lucky ones who hung out at the lounge got the chance to play the yet to be released 3DS titles Brain Age: Concentration Training, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate.  Other games available at the lunge included New Super Mario Bros. 2 (the adjoining photo has a guy identified Luis A. from Paraguay playing the game) and Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask.

As for the Wii U titles, the upcoming Rayman Legends and ZombiU were available to play as well as the new releases New Super Mario Bros U., Nintendo Land and Wii Fit U.

So if you’re at Park City and are getting tired of talking to hoodie wearing hipsters and know it all film journalists, the lounge is the spot for some much needed Mario time.
