‘Last Man Standing’ Star Tim Allen Takes His Holiday Humor Very Seriously

last-man-standingAiring tonight on ABC, this year’s holiday episode of the very funny sitcom LAST MAN STANDING is titled ‘Putting A Hit On Christmas’ and centers on the foiled efforts of Mike and Vanessa to have a “no-fuss” Christmas without family and frills.a better than average sitcom the show was created by JACK BURDITT and features an ensemble cast that includes TIM ALLEN, NANCY TRAVIS, HECTOR ELIZONDO, AMANDA FULLER, MOLLY EPHRAIM, KAITLYN DEVER and CHRISTOPH SANDERS. A former stand-up comic who rocketed to success as a comic-actor on the TV hit HOME IMPROVEMENT and then as the voice of Buzz Lightyear in Disney’s hugely popular TOY STORY franchise, ALLEN takes a lot of pride in the scripts for LAST MAN STANDING. We met up with him (along with co-stars CHRISTOPH SANDER and HECTOR ELIZONDO) on the CBS lot recently and he talked about the age-old sitcom tradition of doing annual episodes with a Christmas theme.

‘The X Factor’ Shocker – Emblem3 Eliminated, Fifth Harmony Survives To Finale

The X Factor (CR: Ray Mickshaw/FOX)

The X Factor, at least for one evening, was absolutely unpredictable, as self proclaimed underdogs Fifth Harmony made it to the finals over the Sublime sounding hunky trio Emblem3. During last night’s installment, Simon Cowell admitted to Fifth Harmony that it would probably take a “miracle” for them to make the finals, but thanks to their excellent rendition of Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Could Happen” as well as taking a big risk in revisiting “Impossible,” the girls will now battle it out with season favorites Carly Rose Sonenclar and Tate Stevens.

So how did these close knit ladies outlast Emblem3 in the competition? Although they received negative comments from L.A. Reid and Britney Spears for “Impossible,” it was the decision to have Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke and Lauren Jauregui sing part of the song in Spanish which may have attracted an even wider audience. With Emblem3’s obvious appeal to teenage girls, as well as the continued praise heaped upon them by mentor Simon Cowell, the guys must have been surprised and disappointed with the results.

But it’s not even close to bad news for Emblem3, especially since Cowell wants to turn them into the stateside version of One Direction. The $5 million prize is out of their reach, but their careers now exist in a different stratosphere thanks to The X Factor.

Martin Freeman Thrilled To Be The New Hobbit On The Block

hobbit_an_unexpected_journey_ver4Arriving in theaters tomorrow, THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is the first in filmmaker PETER JACKSON’S epic three-installment big-screen adaptation of J. R. R. TOLKIEN’S classic children’s story that served as the introduction to Middle Earth and the universe of THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Hugely anticipated despite the many misgivings fans have about breaking this story into so many pieces, the film promises to deliver visuals on par with his LOTR work (and beyond if you catch it in its 48 fps rendition). Starring in the leading role of Bilbo Bagins, actor MARTIN FREEMAN is a newcomer to Middle Earth and admitted, at the Manhattan press conference held last weekend, that he was a big fan of JACKSON’S LOTR work.
