GANGSTER SQUAD (Warner Bros. Pictures, Wilson Webb)It’s 1949 Los Angeles, and crime lord Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) has a stranglehold on the city. With his share of politicians and cops under his payroll, Cohen won’t be an easy guy to take down. Gangster Squad, the new film from Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer pits Cohen against a principled crew of LAPD vets (led by Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling) determined to bring a little justice to La-La land.

Following the traditions of the California noirs L.A. Confidential and the underrated Mulholland Falls, Gangster Squad may put this genre back on the cinematic map, and at the very least the movie should be a visually interesting movie, thanks to the cinematography work of Dion Beebe (Collateral, Miami Vice, and Memoirs of a Geisha are among his standout projects).

The following audio clip below, taking from the Gangster Squad press conference, is a pretty cute exchange between co-stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone (they previously worked together on Crazy, Stupid, Love).  To hear Gosling and Stone, click on the media bar below:
