Opening in theaters later this month, THE GUILT TRIP stars BARBRA STREISAND and SETH ROGEN as a mother and son determined to make the most of a cross country road trip that tests the boundaries of their already strained relationship. Played (almost) completely for laughs, the film’s expected cliches and stereotypical characterizations are made bearable simply because of the total likeability of its stars.
At yesterday’s press conference to promote the film, STREISAND fielded questions about everything from movie making to movie watching and seemed to win over the crowd. Of this season’s crop of projects, she gave her seal of approval to the big screen adaptation of the stage musical LES MISERABLES and singled out director TOM HOOPER’S choice to film and record the songs live rather than in a studio as a smart move (just as it was 45 years ago when she did it first).
