wboThe order may be slightly different but it’s still the same top weekend contenders that have been dominating the box office chart for the past several weeks. Taking over the No. 1 slot with $11 m, the James Bond action/adventure SKYFALL is the new king of the hill.  Jumping into the #2 position (finally!) with $10.5 m is RISE OF THE GUARDIANS and, with $9.2 m,  THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PT.2 continues to thrill the “Twi-hards” (who must be taking in multiple screenings by this point). STEVEN SPIELBERG’S ambitious historical epic, LINCOLN, continues its march to Oscar’s red carpet with another weekend take of $9.1 m. While, rounding out the top five  is  LIFE OF PI ($8.3 m). The massive worldwide success of SKYFALL is no surprise to fans of the franchise and, at the press conference to promote its release, producer BARBARA BROCCOLI admitted it is the classic combination of old and new James Bond that is resonating with audiences.
