life_of_piCurrently in theaters (and opening in the Top Five on the weekend box office chart), LIFE OF PI introduces to the movie-going audience a newcomer by the name of SURAJ SHARMA in the titular role of a young man who survives a horrific shipwreck only to be lost at sea in a lifeboat he shares with a ferocious Bengal tiger. An epic spectacle of color and 3D technology, the film is based on YAN MARTELL’s metaphoric 2001 novel and remains true to the spirit of its source material while flying in the face of those who deemed the book “unfilmable” upon its publication. Directed by Academy Award-winner ANG LEE from a screenplay by DAVID McGEE, the film would be a daunting task even for an experienced actor. During a recent press conference, SHARMA responded to reporters’ questions about being intimidated by working with such an illustrious director his first time on camera.
