Opening in theaters this week, HITCHCOCK is the second Hollywood biopic this year to bring to light the legendary director’s devotion to filmmaking. Unlike THE GIRL (HBO’s chronicle of HITCHCOCK’S weird obsession with actress TIPPI HEDREN during the filming of THE BIRDS and MARNIE), this film zeroes in on his relationship with his long-suffering wife, Alma, and the creation of his masterpiece, PSYCHO. Directed by SACHA GERVASI and based on journalist STEPHEN REBELLO’S book ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO, the cast features ANTHONY HOPKINS, HELEN MIRREN, JESSICA BIEL, TONI COLLETTE and SCARLETT JOHANSSON.
Much has been made about the make-up and prosthetics used to turn HOPKINS into the iconic visage of ALFRED HITCHCOCK but, during a satellite interview over the weekend, the actor talked about finding the real key to bringing the film’s titular character to life. (CLICK ON THE MEDIA BAR FOR AUDIO)
